rumblings

i am hearing/reading some rumblings in the undergrowth
about the cancellation of the Long Ridge Farm classes
that were to take place in August this year

it was not a decision that was taken lightly
nor was it for frivolous reasons

i hoped the four months notice would give folks reasonable time to make other plans
[at least it's rather more than most tutors are extended - many workshop hosts reserve the right to cancel the tutor up to four weeks ahead of an engagement]

i sincerely regret any inconvenience or disappointment
and hope the universe fills the gap in your calendar
with something marvellous and magical
as it so often does when things initially don't go quite to plan

although [that said] i have to admit i'm still looking for the silver linings
to some of the wobblies the universe has been bowling of late
must be there somewhere, i just have to polish my spectacles a bit better so i can see them

the late John Lennon summed it succinctly when he said
“Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.”

and when you hit the wall and can't climb over it
-  paint daisies on it.

i'm off to get my paints and brushes.

  1. Don't know what's happening, but I wish you well. I have a post on my 'Wall', from Winston Churchill - 'When you're going through hell, keep going'. It seemed to strike a better cord for me, than all the silver lining stuff. Keeping going ...

    1. hugs and gentle hand holding for whatever is troubling your world.

cancelling events is always a difficult decision to make. but i'm surprised people are grumpy: disappointed i can understand, but narky? that's just plain rude.

    2. keeping going is much the best plan....the alternative strikes me as possibly dull

  2. Oh, I liked the idea that you would be so very close to here again this August. Something inspiring about knowing that I might catch a whiff of your dyepot on the wind. Good luck with polishing your spectacles, I might need to go out and get a pair so that I can try the polishing trick... maybe that will work.

  3. So sorry to hear the universe is wobbling in your direction just now. I agree with Lisette - disappointment at the cancellation is understandable, but not anger or grumpiness.

That said, I'm hoping the universe's wobblies are righted before October...as I'm planning to be in the Botanical Alchemy workshop in Cleveland. However, if it is not to be, I promise only momentary disappointment coupled with an eye out for future workshop opportunities. Good things are worth waiting for.

    Now...where are my spectacles...

  5. I am one of those rumbling, but only with extreme disappointment...it was one of those shiny lovely visions of joy in my future and not one that could be replaced at all...but I figured that you had a good reason and I hope to learn from you at another venue in the future. Fortunately I had not bought airfare ahead of time as I usually do or it really would have been a financial problem, as it was, I was able to cancel my plans. I wish you well.

  10. i, too, am one of the disappointed & sad folks who was looking forward to this bright light at the end of some tunnels this year, but i will cross my fingers for your northwest visit in '13 and look for those silver linings, too. & hope all will be well for you soon.

    1. thanks for swinging by and leaving a kind word. the Northwest visit is gradually settling into place, just waiting on confirmation of a possible longer stay [residency] in one of the places on my list. regret i can't be more specific at present, rest assured there will be joyful whoops on this site if it is confirmed

we can't ply Luna with chocolate to ameliorate (no, no!)her sadness but we may have to invest for ourselves.

    1. chocolate...the essential daily vitamin, sadly forbidden to dogs.

one vet told me that dogs shouldn't have chocolate because "lack of further supplies caused depression and then slow decline into eventual demise". ha.

truth is this delicious substance can cause hyperactivity, spasms and even cardiac arrest in canines [depending on size of dog and quantity of chocolate eaten]

wonder how much i'd need to eat to show similar symptoms...note to self : all things in moderation.
