take a piece of
cloth
(a gift from Marion of Beautiful Silks)
and
a handful of leaves (swept up from the studio floor)
something to wrap them around
and
some string with which to tie them
snug as a bug
chugalug
introduce them to a pre-loved brew
topped up with rainwater from the tap
give them time to become acquainted
and some heat to help seal the friendship
keeping it all sweet and simple
like this beautiful poem by Mary Logue
and do swing back in a few days if you're curious about the result
or just follow the simple steps above
to write your own poem on cloth
Yes, am always curious !
ReplyDeleteBut will also write my own cloth poem (except not until tomorrow because tonight it's pouring with change-of-season rain). Mostly, I will because of poetry
and because my mom was also Minnesotan.
...it rained here too
Deletemaking poetry on the tin rook

ReplyDeleteThis is why I LOVE you and your work India,(as Caitlin said the first day in Scotland, my "goddess of dyeing ;-) ) You are always on the path I long for, already feeling inside which way I have to walk. Thank you so much for sharing your work AND thoughts with us! So it is easier to remember what life really is about! Sounds like a fan mail, but hope you feel my joy for meeting like minded souls in your class. Feeling part of a clan ;-) Ow , and Sweetpea, ik wil come back about your lovely blog. Just letting it sinking in and let some tide over it, also looking for words...xxx
ReplyDeleteit was indeed a wonderful time in Scotland, Marijke...i go back to that little film from time to time just to hear the singing again. because it makes my heart sing, too.
DeleteOh yes. Cloth poems, baking and play writing is on here. As well as the last sheep shearing. And tugging garlic in until next summer. Well, I could go on. But what fuels me mostly, really, is the plant and cloth poems. Happe weekend to you (all)
