ikigai

today i felt a bit like this

a bit weird
but
better than feeling like this

so i went into the studio
and played for a while

there were quite a few others
but
rather than put up a squillion images
what i really wanted to mention
was that my friend Trace
told me to go here
and i did

all day since then i've been thinking about the idea of ikigai
[the reason for getting up in the morning]

so then i was looking for more information
about that splendid concept
and found this article which isn't exactly about that at all
but most entertaining

  1. Dan could be an American in regards to all the things he says about Australians and how they eat. It's absolutely the same here. Thanks for sharing this. I've always preferred walking to any other type of exercise, and eating pretty much whatever I want but in moderation, which I believe keeps me from going on junk food binges.
Anyhow, you're traveling this week, aren't you? Have a good journey!

  2. Well now, this post was exactly what I needed to read, and be lead towards, on this Monday morning...gonna do a little soaking-up, I'd say, of some of those wise words...thank you!

  3. Thanks for providing the link to this provocative post and the TED video. I think I have ikigai in my life, as I look forward to every morning and what the day might hold for me. I celebrate the sunset and nightfall as well. I am happy to have this name to give to what I have instinctively put together for myself.

  6. I've often thought that the constant worry about what we put in our mouths must be more damaging than the stuff itself. I had a lovely dinner the other night that was spoilt for me by the host saying "Well that was naughty" because the dish had some cream in it. The good feeling I had departed with me left feeling was I supposed to now feel guilty?
I still tucked into dessert ;)

  7. Read books like Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon and cream will no longer be naughty. It is all about eating real food. Food our ancestors ate and they ate huge amounts of saturated fat. Sugar on the other hand not so much.
