  1. hi, My deepest condolences...I lost my 14 year old jack russell, Pablo, just three short weeks ago. I am still in terrible pain. I totally understand. I don't know when, or if, it gets any easier........

  12. Oh India, may your dear friend be running with the wind, pain free, herding all the sheep her little heart desires...and may your own heart be consoled for the loss of her physical presence. Peace to you.

    ~ Man and Dog ~

    Who's this—alone with stone and sky?
    It's only my old dog and I—
    It's only him; it's only me;
    Alone with stone and grass and tree.

    What share we most—we two together?
    Smells, and awareness of the weather.
    What is it makes us more than dust?
    My trust in him; in me his trust.

    Here's anyhow one decent thing
    That life to man and dog can bring;
    One decent thing, remultiplied
    Till earth's last dog and man have died.

  28. ....The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
    Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods;
    For nothing now can ever come to any good....

  30. So hard. Today I was in the vet, and though we have a full comportment of cats and dogs, the one in the other woman's arms was so much like the one who died two years ago, made me miss him so. And remember him. And how wonderful he was, and let me love him up front once again.

  31. Having buried many, but thank goodness not for a while I know the loss of not having the normal ritual and the devotion.
    At least you were home. Feel so sad, such a beautiful dog, there is nothing like a Border Collie.

  33. Oh dear, India, I'm sorry for your loss, and I say this with my best of good boys nearby enough so I can squeeze him, rub his sweet ears, and appreciate his being here with me...I know without him, I'd be devastated. It is my hope there will be a new best friend to share time with. Rest, be well, take care.

  34. Dear India I,m so sorry to hear you are now parted from your best friend. He was there to greet you when you returned from wandering and now you have all your wonderful memories of him. May many rose petals continually fall upon you both.

  35. thanks every one of you for your gentle words and sympathy.

    The Dog will be much chuffed at so many kind thoughts from other two-footers - that's assuming she has time to take notice, I expect she's busy greeting a few old friends and making a few new ones among the even older furred ones who passed before...

    oops, getting a bit complicated there, hope it makes sense
    or not
    woof.

  43. I couldn't find the right words to comfort you. But I'am very sorry to read about the lost of your dog. Their love is so unconditioned and simple. Bought a book of Eckhart Tolle - guardians of being - and read these words 'feeling the spirit of animals, is feeling the spirit in yourself'.
