similar but not the same


looking through my photos i was struck by the similarity in pattern between Madeleine Delany's exquisite shibori-zome sample [below] and the inner part of a black taro leaf [above]

the cloth was dyed using Paulownia leaves in a copper pot

  2. aah, twas not deliberate duplication but happy coincidence...i'd photographed the taro on my way to Awhitu after the workshop...

  3. the photo of the dyed cloth is beautiful, you can almost feel the sun and the wind in it. wonderful simularity.

  4. Green....my favorite color with purple/wine...a favorite combination. The leaf seems to make both patterns look so exotic.
