i promised my students i would show them how it turned out
so here are some quick images of the flotsam dress
now that it's dry and the shibori stitching has been removed
Kaz Madigan over at Curiousweaver has some shots of the bundle being undone [in the rain]
rather better images than mine
shot against the sun this morning
doesn't look too spectacular from a distance
the devil is in the detail
sea fossils on cloth, perhaps
Oh wow! the beauty in the details is stunning.
ReplyDeleteThats really beautiful, stunning.
ReplyDeletewowsa - it's just a delight up close - I'll bet its far better in real life though.....I love the shape of the dress too (I can really see myself in one of these....... I really MUST learn how to sew my own clothes!)
ReplyDeleteI love the giant seaweed "snake" in Kaz's photo - brings a whole new perspective to bundling xxoo
ReplyDeletelove the movement of the patterns and the quirky negative space. seaweed is a great description!
ReplyDeleteI strongly challenge any claims of this dress not being spectacular from a distance. Both the depth and variety of colour and the dreamy draping make for happy heart and eyes, even before closeups. x Maria
ReplyDeletethe layering of pattern and hue is astonishing.
ReplyDeleteThe soft colours are beautiful and the details are stunning.

ReplyDeleteWow, just wow....found your blog through some bloghopping, I will sure be back!
ReplyDeleteeverybody has said it already, but that dress is just gorgeous, India, shape colour, and all the details. one would hang it up on the wall as a piece of art when not wearing it, but it looks a wonderful thing to wear too. and then on your next blog the instructions to make the shape! you are unbelievably generous.
