the sun has risen on September 14
[Happy Birthday, Alexander von Humboldt!]
and i had the difficult task of choosing a story
from the delightful collection posted in response to
the laundrette picture
it was not an easy task - had finances permitted
i would have sent you all something
in the end
i settled on two
Shazz and Jude
so if you'd care to email me your postal addresses
something will wing its way to you shortly
and in other news
last week's retreat at Strathalbyn
turned out to include no less than three
sets of mothers and daughters
[four, if i count myself in two of them!]
my mother has kindly written about her experiences
you might like to read her views of the week
three posts so far, beginning here
then part two and part three
I have been enjoying your mothers blog and as I said to her, you had said when I had to back out of the retreat there is always a reason. There was as my very old (97) year old mother died that Friday so I would have found it impossible to get there, things to arrange etc. It was sad but we were also thankful as it had been a hard few months for her and us.
ReplyDeleteI am trying, not terribly successfully to dye on my own and am having fun although I am finding some things dont work, and silk is much easier to dye than cotton, dont think I have the mordants right for that!
So thank you and your mother for setting me off on another path and I do so love your book.
Thanks India for the unique story theme and opportunity. It was as much fun to write a story as it was to read all of the fascinating and delightful stories. Well done Shazz and Jude.

Thanks, India! It was fun playing with the Beautiful Laundrette. I love your mom's blog and have bookmarked it for future eye candy! I'll be sure to tell her as well.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners of the story. I enjoyed writing mine ,as it was as sarcastic as I am. Thanks for having the opportunity even though I don't have a blog.I'm suppose to be receiving your book any day now so at least I'll know more about what everyone is discussing, can hardly wait!
